James & Patricia Ferguson House

The next house on the Modernism Home Tour by Knoxville by Design that I saw was James & Patricia Ferguson house in Sequoyah Hills. It was designed by Carl F. Maples with Lindsay & Maples in 1950. Patricia's father was a contractor and built the home. While its form is a basement rancher, the site gave the opportunity for both the living room and den below to have large windows overlooking the Tennessee River across the front yard. The house has been added on over the years with a new main bedroom suite and family room connecting to the kitchen.
