Follow the story of Brian Flanagan (Tom Cruise), a young bartender working to save up for college, and his mentor Doug Coughlin (Bryan Brown) as they perfect their craft and face a falling out. Along the way, Brian finds love with artist Jordan Mooney (Elisabeth Shue) and discovers a path to open his own bar.
