This website is a case summary of the case *Michel v. Yale University*, a class action lawsuit filed by Jonathan Michel, a Yale undergraduate, against Yale University. The lawsuit was brought after Yale transitioned to online-only instruction due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Spring 2020, and refused to issue tuition refunds.  The Second Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed the district court's decision in favor of Yale, finding that the university's decision was within the scope of a “Temporary Suspension Provision” in Yale's Undergraduate Regulations, which operated as a force majeure clause and allowed Yale to make such a transition without refunding tuition.
