The Kodon Clan

The Kodon Clan (虎呑一族, Kodon Ichizoku) is a clan of the Howling Wolf Village. They are able to make a medicinal form of saigenzai known as Kotarō within their bodies; although only Kodon can do this, it is not a kekkei genkai.

A sealing technique that is passed down within the Kodon clan, allowing its members to seal Rōen, a wolf-like monster that has terrorised them since ancient times. The seal must be placed at Rōen's weak point, on the back of its head. If successfully applied, Rōen's body gradually turns to stone.

Saigenzai (催幻剤, literally meaning: Hypnotic Illusionary Medicine) is a type of drug that produces genjutsu, mentioned in Naruto Jinraiden: The Day the Wolf Howled. Because the genjutsu is administered through a drug, it does not rely on a user to keep it in effect and it's able to have a lasting impact on the target.

Kotarō (虎打狼) is a form of saigenzai that was originally created by Tenma Kodon as a way to control Rōen. It can only be produced within the bodies of Kodon clansmen: by consuming a plant that grows in abundance around the Howling Wolf Village, the Kodon's body starts to produce Kotarō.
