Oslo | Day 1

12 cards

We decided first day to spend on walking and seeing everything on foot. Our stay was a bit outside of city center, 40min on foot, but that actually enabled us to see hidden gem of river and bunch of amazing waterfalls and beautiful nature so close to the city. definitely would recommend. Waterfront walk, Vippa - hidden gem with good food, The scream and much more. check it out.

Sørengautstikkeren - Rich Neighbourhood

Entire Norway is rich country, Oslo is expensive and rich as well, but this neighbourhood is just wow. Only fency buildings with kanus in front of each one. Really fun to see.

Beautul Sea Front Walk

After nature and waterfalls we came to this beautiful waterfront walk. It may be the fact that it was really beautiful day, but this walk is just amazing. Lot of people just soaking the sun on a nice day, some even swim. Plenty of benches to sit and enjoy or if you prefer restaurants and caffees for a coffee or a beer.

Royal Palace

Really beautiful and big with gardens around and green area. Oslo is not a big city, so everything is within walking distance . Worth visiting.

The Vigeland Park

My husband told me about this park and sculptures, but when you see it first hand it makes wow effect on you. I am not an artist person but those sculptures really represent human's life story. They are not vulgar, they are telling a story. More about it in fun facts stack :)

Vippa - hidden gem for great lunch/dinner

Really really great place with great vibe. It is a bit "outside" of the main center, but it is what makes it special. Big indoor and a bit smaller outdoor space. We ate Phillippines and Greek cuisine and everything was great. Pricey, but entire Oslo is pricey, so within that range :D

On day 2 we decided to go to their fancy spa/wellnes resort. it is the biggest and most beautiful one in the northern Europe. It is spread on 3 floors, and it takes long time to go through it all. NOTE: you can not bring anything inside. they call it a world detox. if you want to wear swimware you have to buy it there or you can go naked which is part of their culture. mobile phone forbidden.

Oslo Street Food

Went after spa for a bite, but at the end we didn't eat there because it was way too expensive and we saw small portions. But the vibe in there is great, a bit of music and good beer. So we had a beer and went for italian pizza :)

Mamma Pizza

Really good pizza but just as everything else it is expensive and pizza is not too big, or should I say, small. Honey, I shrunk the portions, and Honey, I blew up the prices :)

Bonita Cafe

The breakfast was so great. I has “Cheese nest Sunrise” and it was sooo good. Along with cafe latte I was fueled for the day. every recommendation.

If we knew this before we wouldn’t do it. coastal small cities around Oslo are not worth visiting. we were in few of them (listed) and they are so boring and really not impressed at all. if we knew, we would have stayed in oslo or maybe do something else. Ferry ride would recommend.

Ferry Fjord Ride

This is a cool experience. They ferries are cheap (people are not paying, cars are ~3Eur). Would recommend if you fly from the outer airport.

Ghost city. Literally there is no one in the street and everything was closed at 5pm. Skip.

Drøbak

Although we found cute little bakery for coffee and burek, apart from that this small town has nothing to offer. Only expensive parking :D
