If you ever find yourself stuck for color palette ideas, just drag an image into Illustrator (You can use a screen grab from your favorite movie) and go to Object > Rasterize. . Then go to Object > Create Color Mosaic. You can input a higher value for the tiles for a more detailed palette or lower for a simpler one. Check ‘Delete Raster’ to delete the underlying image if you need. I usually keep the image in case I need to redo the mosaic step. I . Then simply select the colors you want, go to the swatches window, click on the flyout and make a new swatch group from select artwork. . To generate color codes, select each swatch or the swatch group folder, click the flyout and select Create Swatch Info.
