Campbell-Russell House

Another old house in Farragut is the Campbell-Russell house, built around 1820 in the Federal style. The Campbell of this house is John Campbell, the son of Col. David Campbell who owned the land the Campbell Station Inn was built on. The Russells of this house are Matt and J. Frank (father and son). The Mathew L. Russell of this house is not the same Matthew Russell as the one who owned the Campbell Station Inn, though they are relatives. During the Civil War, the house was owned by Dr. William W. Nelson and was used as a hospital during the battle of Campbell Station. This house is not far from the Campbell Station Inn and is located off Kingston Pike behind the Taco Bell (which was built in the house's front yard in 1981). In 1993, the house was remodeled and expanded into offices. The original house is on the right in the first photo, with an addition on the left. The second photo shows the addition on the right with the original house in the background on the left.
