Florence Crittenden House (Knoxville, TN)

This American Four Square is a larger house in the neighborhood, taking up what was originally three lots. It was originally built in 1900 as a Florence Crittenden House but was shuttered during WWI. In 1917 it became the Home for Friendless Babies (see next two images for an ad for subscriptions from the Knoxville News newspaper). The Babies Home moved to Cecil Avenue in 1926 (to a now demolished building where the Broadway Towers Apartments are now located). The next occupant of the house was the Naveh Cottage (girls' home).
