You want to increase your reach on LinkedIn? I'm an ex-LinkedIn employee, and these 5x things matter more than the algorithm. LinkedIn makes $18B a year. And it's NOT from your posts. Here are 5x things creators don’t think about: 1️⃣ LinkedIn is a map of the global economy 🌎 → 1Bn+ users, 67M companies, 113K Schools, 41K Skills, ... → Think just how ENORMOUS that amount of data is. → LinkedIn sells this data to governments and big companies so they can forecast skills gaps and industry shifts. 2️⃣ Microsoft didn’t buy “just another social app” 🤳🏻 → Microsoft bought LinkedIn in 2016 for $26.2Bn. → Why? To own the data as described under point 1 and putting it into everyday Microsoft workflow tools (Outlook, MS Teams, etc.). 3️⃣ LinkedIn is a multi-billion-dollar Software-as-a-Service company 💵 → LinkedIn is an enterprise SaaS company with serious ARR. → The feed builds trust; their software products convert it. → $8Bn ARR - Talent Solutions, $5Bn ARR - Marketing Solutions, $3Bn ARR - Sales & Learning Solutions, $2Bn ARR - Premium Subscriptions 4️⃣ LinkedIn’s users are high‑earning, career‑focused Millennials 💼 → 53% of users earn over $100,000 → 47% of users are aged 25–34 → Keep in mind WHO you are targeting with your content. 5️⃣ LinkedIn News is a global editorial operation 📰 → LinkedIn collaborates with over 400 news publishers globally. → Editors describe it as a mix of Journalism + Creator expertise + Algorithmic distribution. → Focused on credible, career-relevant information into your feed, rather than sensationalism. 👇🏻 TL;DR LinkedIn isn’t “Facebook for jobs.” It’s a data, software, and media company. → One that happens to have a social layer on top. 💡Remember LinkedIn wants people to post content. But that’s not their endgame. You’re playing in their playground. The algorithm is optimised for their business outcomes, not creator clout.
