Potatoes

“Perpetual Passive Potatoes” are the easiest way to grow potatoes with very little effort! First I plant forgotten kitchen potatoes that have started sprouting into grow bags. I continue to cover the sprouted leaves with more soil as they poke through, until I’ve reached the top of the bag. At the end of the season when I repurpose the soil from past grow bag harvests into containers on my deck, I get surprise potatoes sprouting from even the smallest forgotten seed potatoes. I’ve been using @kellogggarden Near Source Organic Potting Soil since I accidentally waterlogged a batch of potatoes in straight compost & rabbit bedding a couple years ago (yep, they turned to mush). I mix it with my rabbit bedding (Timothy hay + rabbit poo) for extra drainage and mulch, and to add a bit of my own earth into the growing process.
