Rumsey-Swepson House by Baumann Brothers

Stop 6 on the Fort Sanders Walking Tour is the Rumsey-Swepson House. It was originally built by George A. Rumsey in 1888. The Robert R. Swepson family lived there for many years starting in 1891. In 1944 the home was broken up into 16 apartments, and it still serves that purpose today. The original design was by the Baumann Brothers in the Queen Anne style. The turret used to have a conical roof, and the bump-out over the front porch is a modification.
