DeArmond-Gillespie House by Baumann Brothers

Stop 20 on the Fort Sanders Walking Tour is the empty lot where the DeArmond-Gillespie House used to sit. In 2001 the house was moved across the street to a lot that had become vacant (see 2nd pic for the house now), so this block could be developed into a hotel (though, as of now that remains to be seen). You can still see an iron fence from the original house at the edge of the parking lot. The house was built in 1894 for R.T. DeArmond. The Gillespie family moved in a few years later and remained there for decades.
