I sat down with the Oasis Media Podcast to share the full story behind The Manhattan Lab. I started in broadcast TV working around the Mets' network, pivoted into the creator economy as the industry shifted, and COVID pushed me deeper into podcasting. A random Twitter moment connected me with Anthony Pompliano, we launched The Best Business Show in Miami, and eventually, I returned to NYC to build TML from scratch. In this conversation, I get into studio design, set iteration, pricing philosophy, and what I've learned building a premium podcast studio in Midtown East.
I built TML's gear lineup around what actually matters for video podcasting. We run three 4K cinema cameras, a broadcast switcher for live multi-camera production, and four industry-standard microphones. Our internet runs at 1 Gig upload speed, so live streaming and remote recording via Zoom or Riverside work without any lag or quality issues. After your session, raw files are delivered within 2 hours via Google Drive.
We offer three set configurations at TML, so your show has its own look without needing to bring anything. Set 1 features a glass background with office space views for a modern, open feel. Set 2 uses black curtains with customizable color LED lights for a more cinematic or branded aesthetic. Set 3 is a two-person couch with textured wallpaper, and it doubles as extra seating for 3-4 person recordings. Great sets come from imperfect rooms and constant iteration, and these three are the result of that process.
Speed matters when you're producing content on a schedule. At TML, raw files from your recording session are delivered within 2 hours via Google Drive. If you're visiting NYC on a tight window or producing on a weekly schedule, that means you can record in the afternoon and have footage ready for editing the same evening. Flat rate pricing, zero hidden fees, and no waiting days for your files.
I sat down with the Failing Uppp podcast to talk about what it actually takes to build a studio and a production career in New York City. We covered the evolution of podcasting in 2025, what makes a great show, and why building for a small loyal audience beats chasing millions with name-drops from clients, including Bernie Sanders and Chris Williamson, along the way. If you want to understand how I think about this work before booking a session, this is a good place to start.
The Manhattan Lab is at 600 Lexington Ave in Midtown East, right at 52nd and Lex. Grand Central Terminal is about a 10-minute walk south, so guests arriving by Metro-North or LIRR have easy access. The closest subway stops are Lexington Ave/53rd St (E, M lines) and 51st St (6 line). We operate Monday through Friday, 1 pm to 8 pm. Fill out the contact form on our site to get connected with our concierge.
When Anthony Pompliano announced The Manhattan Lab to his audience in August 2024, he called it the best recording studio in NYC, a post that reached 140.7K views. He and I spent years building the production operation behind The Pomp Podcast before opening TML to outside clients, so this announcement carries the full weight of that track record. This is what it looks like when the person who helped build the studio publicly vouches for it.
