However, voluntary acts of self-denial are recommended. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday These are days of Fast and Abstinence from meat. There is a limit of one full meal on these days for all between the ages of 18 and 59 inclusive. Days of Abstinence (All Fridays in Lent) All who have reached their 14th year are bound to abstain totally from meat. Easter Duty Obligation After an individual has received First Holy Communion, Catholics are bound by the obligation of receiving Holy Communion at least once a year. This precept should be fulfilled during the Easter Season. All Souls Day The Bereavement Ministry has developed a Service of Remembrance to honor all of our relatives and friends who have passed away. On Sunday, November 7th we will honor all our departed loved ones during the 10:00 a.m. Mass. An additional Tribute Board will be available to write the name of a family member who died this year and was not buried from our parish. Immediately following the Mass there will be a Remembrance Service with candle lighting and scripture beginning at 11:15 am All are invited to bring a photo of your loved one to place on the table. The names of your loved ones who have passed away this year and whose funeral Masses were celebrated Our Lady of Sorrows Church will be displayed on a Tribute Art Board near the sanctuary. As such, are committed to worship and participate spiritually, socially and financially in the life of the Parish. Adults over the age of 21 should register independently from your parent’s registration. BAPTISMS: Baptisms are held on the third Sunday of the month at 11:30 a.m. or upon request, during the 10:00 a.m. Mass. Baptism Preparation Classes are held in the Parish Office on the 2nd Monday of each month at 7 p.m. Both parents and Godparents must attend. Our Lady of Sorrows Choir is looking for more voices to join in our Liturgical Celebrations for the year. The Choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7:30—9:00 p.m. and we sing at the 10:00 am Mass on Sundays. Just show up on Thursday evening.
