Wrong. Summers are meant for building a Shopify app that will change how brands acquire and sell to customers, with two lads you met just under 5 weeks ago. And to solve a problem you've seen affecting how young people shop online As a young adult, free shipping is really important to me but reaching the €100-120 threshold on my favorite brands isn't always easy, so what do I do? I ask my friends in the group-chat if they want something. But the back-and-forth of figuring out what everyone wants in the group is pretty frustrating and turns into an absolute mess. So... 289 emails, 26 customer discovery calls, and 1 networking event later... We've built CartShare – a Shopify app that allows merchants to let their shoppers easily create a shareable cart with friends and family in just a few simple clicks - allowing friends to add into the same basket as you and browse on the same store as you in REAL TIME. CartShare increases AOV, reduces your CAC, and cuts cart abandonment by creating FOMO within your customers' friend groups for reaching free shipping and group discounts. Shopify entrepreneurs are builders and innovators. Patent trolls stifle that innovation, burying hard-working entrepreneurs in piles of legal paperwork. They quietly orchestrate hundreds of patent litigation cases every year, with no accountability. In many cases, we don’t know who’s funding these lawsuits. We are no longer willing to accept this as the status quo. Litigants and judges need – and deserve – to know who they’re litigating against. Read more in my article. It also helps define what a "good" partnership can look like in today's complicated world for a #smallbusiness like ours. For context, Kinder Beauty does all of our banking with #SVB . Needless to say, this has not been the greatest week. The talented Tiffany Tekula has been working tirelessly alongside me to make sure our financial/banking future is secure and that, most urgently, there is no disruption to payroll for our small, hard-working team. Despite everything we'd been promised during this SVB transition, we have not yet had access to our funds all week. We show an accurate bank balance, but every time we try to issue a payment or wire out of that balance, the transaction fails. Our deadline to fund Justworks for the current payroll period (i.e. for payroll that is scheduled to distribute to the team tomorrow) was 1 pm EST today. We found out early this morning, that our latest attempt to wire the funds for payroll to Justworks failed for unknown reasons. After some scrambling trying to come up with a plan to take care of my employees, I faced the very real possibility that for the first time in four years, we were going to miss payroll. Then, at about 11:30 am EST, I remembered receiving an email from Kaz Nejatian , Shopify 's COO, earlier this week in which he graciously offered to help Shopify customers who use SVB and who may run into issues making payroll as a result. Let me be clear, Kinder Beauty is most definitely not Shopify's top customer. We're not their smallest partner, either. But reaching out to Kaz for help, with a little over an hour remaining to fund payroll, felt like a last-ditch effort unlikely to amount to much. In my email to Kaz, I matter-of-factly explained the situation and asked if there was anything Shopify could do to help us. When I tell you Kaz responded within one minute, I’m not exaggerating. His response? "Send us wire info ASAP please. [to his teammate, on copy] let's get money to Andrew and Tiffany ASAP." After some back-and-forth between us, Shopify, and Justworks, Shopify made sure our payroll was covered, all within an hour of when I initially emailed Kaz. As a result, I did not have to tell my team this morning that they weren’t getting paid tomorrow. Also, as a result, I'm reminded that kindness still exists in the world. It’s hard being a small business. Every day we face a new challenge. This particular challenge, dealing with the fallout of our bank defaulting, was particularly rough. But with friends and partners like the team at Shopify , I'm confident that whatever arises, we got this. On behalf of myself and my small team, thank you Shopify team for being a better partner to us than we could have ever hoped for or expected. cc Alicia Bernstein Winnie Hefner Gina Shpigel Tiffany Tekula Brandon Vientos Kristin Hill Monique Seitz-Davis Jessica Kohler Sarah B. 1,633 48 Comments Copy LinkedIn Facebook X Tobias Lütke reacted on this Report this post Tobias Lütke reacted on this Frank B. The new developer tools introduced at Shopify.dev 2026 not only lower the barrier to entry for complex storefronts but fundamentally increase conversion capabilities for enterprise merchants. For agencies and CTOs, adapting to these new APIs is the top priority this quarter. How is your team leveraging the new stack? 📈🛍️ 3 Aidan Foster Drupal • 2K followers 💡 Designers now build. Front-end Developers orchestrate. This isn't a prediction—it's happening right now in Toronto's most innovative agencies. At our last AI / Drupal Toronto, Pierre Marcel revealed the workflow shift that's tripling team output without adding headcount. The old model is breaking: Traditional handoffs between design and development create bottlenecks. The new model? Complete role transformation. ✅ Designers work directly in Figma with tokens and variables ✅ AI generates spec docs straight from Figma links (via MCP) ✅ The team reviews and refines those specs ✅ AI builds the front-end components ✅ Developers become strategic conductors, only performing the cleanup The timing of Pierre's talk couldn't be better Schema by Figma just launched, specifically engineered for these AI-powered workflows. Why this matters for your team: 💬 Workflow changes like this are productivity multipliers... Not through grinding harder, but by fundamentally reimagining who does what. The transformation isn't coming—it's here. The only question is whether you'll lead it or chase it. Big thanks to Pierre Marcel for sharing insights with our community. 🎯 What you to think about how web team role are evolving? #AI #Figma #WebDesign 46 3 Comments Toke Lund Enterspeed • 7K followers I spy a commerce shift: From Composable to Shopify. Over the past five years many agencies and software vendors – Enterspeed included – have been advocating composable. But in the past year I’ve seen a significant shift back toward Shopify. Despite all the good intentions and clear benefits, it now seems like project overruns, bad experiences, and the massive AI wave have pushed organisations back to basics. At the moment, many of our conversations are with enterprises who “just” want a Shopify setup – one that can handle the core needs and evolve quickly and efficiently into the new AI reality. But, of course, that introduces other concerns. Because how do you automatically update (often multiple) Shopify shops, especially with all the requirements of ingesting data into Shopify? Don’t worry – we’ve got you covered 😇 Enterspeed can help you distribute data across multiple shops and make sure variants, languages, currencies, bulk imports, and incremental updates are taken into consideration – minimising manual work and helping you stay focused on what matters. This isn’t (entirely) about bragging about my team or our latest innovation. Promise! But I really want to highlight this interesting trend. Even enterprises are starting to realise they’re not all that special and could actually go with a strong standard platform like Shopify if they make a couple of smart business decisions. Shopify is accelerating new areas such as AI, MCP, and A2A with big players like ChatGPT, so it makes sense for enterprises to enter these playing fields alongside the biggest innovator in the commerce market. Winning tomorrow might be more important than being special 🙂 50 15 Comments Sandy Jeong Shopify • 3K followers It's no secret that Shopify is leading the way as an AI-native company. Every person that works at Shopify uses AI reflexively. How did this happen? I've worked at big companies before and have never seen thousands of people change their ways of working on a dime like we've seen here at Shopify. It comes down to four things: 1. An incredibly clear remit in the form of our CEO's now infamous memo, stating that reflexive AI usage is now a baseline expectation at Shopify. 2. Teeth to the remit by way of AI usage becoming part of our performance reviews. 3. Access to all the tooling & infrastructure we need to be successful. I'd call it an embarrassment of riches when it comes to access to AI models and tools. 4. A whole bunch of high-agency people working in a culture of "yes" where wins & failures are celebrated as part of the creative process. The result has been staggering. We're all using AI reflexively to make our day-to-day work easier and more interesting. We've created tools and shortcuts that are saving us real time and money. I think of it like giving my kids an art project. You give them confidence that they are artists, arm them with paint & brushes, give them a blank canvas—and then see what they create. Shopify didn't put roadblocks up along the way, and the result was a pure unleashing of creativity and innovation. What are you doing to help your company become AI reflexive? 298 16 Comments Michal Májský Digismoothie • 2K followers 🛠️ Shopify’s Tech Stack revealed! Two weeks ago at the Shopify conference in Toronto, I mentioned to my colleagues how I wish Shopify shared more about what’s happening under the hood on the technical side. As if on cue, ByteByteGo just published deep dive into Shopify’s architecture: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eiWz5P6Y Here are a few things that stood out to me: 1️⃣ Codebase structured as a "modular monolith" 2️⃣ Ruby still remains the main backend language 3️⃣ MySQL is used as the primary database 4️⃣ Shifted from database shards to Pods — fully isolated "slices of Shopify", each with its own MySQL, Redis, and Memcached 5️⃣ Storefront search uses embeddings (text + image) instead of keyword matching 6️⃣ Infrastructure runs on Google Kubernetes 11 1 Comment Chad Fisher Ambaum • 2K followers Setting up B2B Companies on Shopify Plus (Chapter 1) Since Ambaum supports so many B2B and automotive companies, this post is the first in a series dedicated to B2B. Enabling B2B features on Shopify Plus is the easy part. If your business is ready to transition from spreadsheets, emails and faxes (crazy right?), then getting started with B2B on Shopify is the right move. One of the first things you need to do is set up the companies you do business with. If you only have a handful of B2B companies this is easy, but what if you have thousands? One option is to upload the information via CSV file or use a tool like Matrixify to create the following: 🔸 Company Location 🔸 Company Address 🔸 Primary Contact 🔸 Assign Price Catalog Another major issue is you need to associate any existing users already in Shopify, this is important for maintaining your data integrity. You don’t want to end up with a lot of duplicate data, spend the time up front getting everything in clean. Also make sure your store is set up for new Shopify users, you may need to update the “my account page templates” or other theme pages if you are still using the legacy users setting. 7 🏃 Brent W Peterson Content Cucumber • 32K followers Shopify's Sprint vs. Commerce's Strategic Pivot After analyzing both Q2 2025 earnings reports, we see two companies at different strategic moments. Shopify accelerates with 31% growth and $2.7B revenue Commerce (formerly BigCommerce) makes a bold strategic pivot with its fresh rebrand. Growth Trajectories: Speed vs. Foundation Shopify's Current Momentum: Revenue: $2.7B (+31% YoY) accelerating from 27% in Q1 GMV: $88B (+31% YoY) up from 23% in Q1 Nine consecutive quarters of 25%+ growth Commerce's Strategic Reset: Revenue: $84.4M (+3% YoY) - steady during transformation ARR: $355M (+3% YoY) maintaining stability ARPA +9% YoY showing improving customer value The numbers reflect different execution stages. Shopify operates from strength while Commerce rebuilds for future acceleration. Present vs. Future Shopify's AI Leadership: Catalog API for real-time product access Universal Cart for cross-merchant shopping Checkout Kit deployed with Microsoft Copilot Sidekick delivering business insights Commerce's Unified Vision: The rebrand integrates BigCommerce + Feedonomics + Makeswift, positioning for agentic commerce where data optimization becomes critical. Smart partnerships with Perplexity, PROS, and Google Cloud expand capabilities. Scale vs. Specialization Shopify's Broad Dominance: Europe GMV +42% outpacing local markets 4-5x Enterprise wins: Starbucks, Canada Goose Triple-digit B2B growth Commerce's Focused Strategy: Dedicated B2B, B2C, SMB sales teams Feedonomics creating unique data advantages Self-serve products launching 4Q25/1H26 The Timeline Challenge Commerce explicitly targets growth acceleration in 1H26 as transformation takes effect. Key catalysts include self-serve Feedonomics, Makeswift integration, and AI-optimized features. Critical Assessment Commerce's rebrand shows genuine strategic thinking about AI commerce futures. Their data-centric approach could prove prescient as AI agents need sophisticated product optimization. The challenge? Executing while maintaining momentum. At 3% growth, they have limited transformation runway. The Bottom Line Commerce deserves credit for bold strategic moves recognizing market shifts. They're betting data orchestration becomes more valuable than platform breadth A reasonable thesis worth monitoring. However, timing matters. Shopify's acceleration creates pressure making Commerce's timeline critical. Can they execute fast enough to reclaim growth momentum? Commerce tackles complexity but needs simple solutions driving measurable growth. The next four quarters determine whether their strategic bet pays off or Shopify extends its lead. This isn't failure vs. success it's different approaches in evolving markets. Commerce deserves time to prove their thesis, but the clock is ticking. I am off to eTail™ today and it will be interesting to get on the ground perspectives 30 5 Comments Jonathan Kennedy app store research • 10K followers Best sources of Shopify app ideas - Any feature/function that Shopify invests in - there’s opportunity for nimble, focused + entrepreneurial teams to dive deeper into problems and benefit from Shopify educating the market. When you design themes and apps as interchangeable pieces, launches, A/B tests, and pivots become predictable — not painful. Why modularity matters for your Shopify store: 1. Faster experiments: swap components to test new promos or layouts without a full redeploy. 2. Lower maintenance costs: isolate bugs to a single module instead of hunting through monolithic code. 3. Smoother launches: reuse proven blocks to cut time-to-market for new collections. Quick implementation tips: • Use feature flags to toggle experiments without deploys. • Create a design-token system for consistent styling across components. • Keep apps thin and focused so they can be replaced independently. A practical benchmark: stores built with modular patterns cut development friction by up to 40% and accelerate test cadence — so traffic-driven experiments deliver clearer wins faster. Engineered for Scalable and Effortless Cross-Channel Customer Communication & Reactivation. A few months ago, we were deep in the trenches with a handful of brands, trying to understand one thing: “How do we help Shopify stores grow without agencies, without chaos, and without burning time on tools that all do half the job?” We kept hearing the same story >> great products, great teams… but no time to run email, WhatsApp, and SMS in a way that actually moves revenue. So we built Yozo differently. ❌Not another automation tool. ❌Not another dashboard. ✅An intelligent agent that does the work, learns, adapts, and drives real top-line growth. And the results hit faster than any of us expected. 🔥 In the first month alone, multiple brands using Yozo saw a 20%+ increase in top-line sales. ❌Not vanity metrics. 💵Actual revenue. Driven by omnichannel flows, agent-driven WhatsApp follow-ups, smarter email sequences, and timely SMS nudges held together by a single brain, not three disconnected tools. This is the part I’m proud of: Yozo doesn’t replace marketers. It removes the bottlenecks so marketers and founders can finally scale. Email, WhatsApp, and SMS now work as one system: -Unified customer understanding -Unified messaging -Unified performance insights -Unified action …all from one agent that improves with every send, every click, every purchase. We are now officially launching kind of a full product. But honestly, it feels more like the beginning of a new chapter, one where any Shopify brand, big or small, can grow without drowning in complexity. If you’re curious how an AI agent can push your store’s revenue by 20%+ in the first month… Happy to walk you through what we built and how it works. Shopify’s latest release isn’t just about embedding checkout into AI agents. With MCP-UI, they’re building a commerce protocol - one that lets agents render, understand, and transact, without ever sending users to your site. This is intentless commerce in motion. Not because shoppers lack intent - but because models are starting to act on soft signals, before intent is made explicit. A prompt becomes a purchase path. A conversation becomes a cart. This changes how products show up. And what you build. You’re not designing storefronts. You’re structuring commerce objects: clean, callable, machine-readable, and ready for any agent that knows how to transact. The interface is fading. The protocol is becoming the product. And it’s happening fast. 82 15 Comments Harley Finkelstein Shopify • 143K followers One of the first things I did at Shopify was work on the partner ecosystem. The Shopify CLI handles app setup, while the Dev MCP server acts as your pair programmer, generating code for GraphQL, Functions, Liquid, and Polaris components. Validating it all in real time. A Renaissance is defined by its tools, and ours keep getting better. Can’t wait to see what you build with them. https://lnkd.in/ey2DC7gW 490 30 Comments Vitali Dudin Mageworx • 1K followers Shopify Sidekick is surprisingly amazing for app support. Sometimes merchants ask things that aren’t really handled by your app. This time, instead of guessing or redirecting, I decided to try a different approach. Merchant asked how to set up duty exemptions (US - Canada). I asked Sidekick - got a clear explanation - copied it to the merchant. Happy merchant. Sidekick isn’t just for merchants - even for Shopify app support, it’s 🔥 20 5 Comments Paula Luque FedEx • 4K followers 🚀 Not just a Shopify site. A performance machine. It is one of those small technical changes that can cause a lot of headaches if you have a complex store or rely on a lot of custom data. If you go over the limit, things just stop saving or syncing without much warning. Since this question has come up in a few of our projects at Magebit - experts in eCommerce, we put together a quick guide on how to check if your store is affected and how to handle it. https://lnkd.in/d9v8xKbJ 15 1 Comment Jason Richelson Bookkeep • 6K followers For years, one of the most misunderstood parts of Shopify financials has been proper tracking of #COGS. Shopify does a great job running commerce — but from an accounting perspective, it typically shows you the latest product cost, not the cost at the time the sale actually occurred. That distinction matters more than most teams realize. When costs change after a sale, historical margins shift. Gross profit moves. Month-end becomes a reconciliation exercise instead of a close. Finance teams lose confidence in the numbers, even when the business is performing well. This is why we built near real-time COGS syncing for Shopify at Bookkeep. We capture cost data as sales happen — so financials reflect economic reality, not retroactive adjustments. It’s a small technical detail with an outsized impact on accuracy, auditability, and decision-making. Good accounting isn’t about making numbers look better. It’s about making them correct. If you’re scaling on Shopify and care about proper accounting principles, this is a gap worth closing. 17 1 Comment Show more posts Show fewer posts Explore collaborative articles We’re unlocking community knowledge in a new way.
