We see the same failure patterns at Winner AI . The first is the lack of orchestration layers. It means the agent handles a controlled test environment well, but stalls or loops when it encounters real conditions, such as unexpected input formats, API failures, rate limits, and edge cases that were never accounted for in the demo. The second is no memory design. The agent loses context across sessions, contradicts itself, and produces outputs that would have been caught way quicker if anyone had thought through how context persists between steps. The third is no governance. The agent takes irreversible actions without appropriate checkpoints, either because nobody designed the guardrails or because they were treated as an afterthought. Research published in April 2026 found that attack success rates in multi-agent systems vary by up to 3.8x based on architectural design choices. In this context, the model each agent used was held constant, and the architecture was the variable that determined outcomes. The security framing is different from reliability, but the underlying principle remains the same. Architecture is what separates systems that hold under pressure from systems that do not. And unfortunately, this is the part most teams skip because it is harder to show in a demo than a working prototype, as you cannot demonstrate architecture; you can only see its absence when things break in production. Architecture is not an afterthought. I particularly found Daria Pelini and Rafael Sainz 's remarks before the presentations very enlightening, and left with one clear takeaway: We're officially in the third InsurTech wave. Wave 1 → Rebuilding the engine (Guidewire, Duck Creek — modernizing systems of record) Wave 2 → Making it usable (digital insurers, modern UX overlays) Wave 3 → Making it autonomous (AI agents acting on behalf of users) 📊 The most striking stat: Carriers investing in AI are seeing 6.1x total shareholder return vs. those who are lagging to embrace the new tech. 📌 The example: Since 2016, Travelers invested $1.5B annually in new tech and has achieved a 300-point cut in expense ratio and 50% claims eligible for straight-through processing. 💡 My thoughts: The buy vs. build question isn't going away. The answer is increasingly clear that most carriers need an AI-native platform purpose-built for insurance operations — not a generic tool bolted onto legacy infrastructure. It’s my first day at OpenAI , leading product for the legal vertical. I feel lucky to be here. Twelve years ago I quit my job as a law firm associate to start a company called Ironclad . I was a solo founder with $200,000 in student loans hanging over my head, and on top of that I could barely code. I was also working in a space that investors considered a wasteland - building legal technology, selling to lawyers. It felt like the odds were against me. But I had one great advantage, a small group of people that believed in me. Nell Newton who encouraged me as a law student to explore my interest in technology and helped open doors for me in Silicon Valley. Ted Wang who took a bet on a misfit lawyer who wanted to automate their own job. Jesse Beyroutey who had the courage and foresight to put the first dollars into the company, before anyone thought it was a good idea. Today, Ironclad manages billions of business contracts for industry leaders as diverse as L'Oréal, Shell, and The New York Times. It’s scaled from my old apartment in Potrero Hill to a global company of 700+ amazing teammates, doing hundreds of millions in recurring revenue, and growing as fast as ever by deploying AI across data and workflows. It also has one of the best CEOs in all of tech in Dan Springer. I wouldn’t have been able to make this leap without him and the team doing such a good job. When I look at the legal industry today, it is a lot more vibrant than it was twelve years ago. Law firm leaders rearchitecting their firms for the next hundred years. GCs and legal ops leaders pushing the limits of what’s possible with AI. State bars and pro bono organizations looking for ways we can responsibly and safely close the access to justice gap. Law schools rethinking legal education. And thousands of thriving legal tech startups. It’s such an exciting time. In many ways, what I want to do at OpenAI is believe in this ecosystem the same way that Nell, Ted, and Jesse believed in me. It’s a mistake to believe that any one player can do it alone, even a frontier lab. So I want to hear from you, the builders. I’ve always admired the creativity and civic mindedness that lawyers possess. I know that together, we can harness the power of AI to be a force for the good of all society, not just the top. Brazil is standing on the edge of a major labor law shift that could rewrite how every company hires talent across Brazil. Right now, Brazil’s Supreme Court (STF) is reviewing The Pejotização Case ARE 1532603, a case that could decide whether hiring someone as a “contractor” through a CNPJ or payment platform will still hold up legally. And while the Court deliberates, hundreds of thousands of contractors (I saw an article that said over 300k) have already filed lawsuits claiming they were misclassified and should’ve been employees. The courts have frozen those cases nationwide, waiting for one decision that will set the new rules One single ruling could instantly reclassify tens of thousands of independent contractors across Brazil and it will likely ripple across other LATAM countries where the same models are being used.
