Located 20 miles north of downtown Atlanta, Curiosity Lab at Peachtree Corners allows corporate companies and startups alike to test, demo, and ultimately deploy autonomous vehicles and other technologies driving the next generation of smart cities. The Lab’s 3-mile track is integrated into the real-world traffic flows of Peachtree Corners, making it ideal grounds for those looking to transform the future of transportation. The Lab has many reasons to celebrate this year. Not only have they been able to attract companies from Silicon Valley and the rest of the country, they were recognized for their innovative work by the IDC Government Insights’ Smart Cities . The Lab has also formed partnerships with Georgia Power, Delta Airlines, The Technology Association of Georgia, The Metro Atlanta Chamber, Kennesaw State University and Georgia Tech. Both users and members alike see Curiosity Lab as a unique new part of product development. “Smart city technology like Tortoise’s automated repositioning service is designed to make cities cleaner, safer and more sustainable for everyday citizens,” said Dmitry Shevelenko , co-founder and president of San Francisco-based Tortoise . “Curiosity Lab offers the unique opportunity for us to develop and deploy our technology in an environment where people live and work each and every day.” Over the summer the Lab started testing remote-controlled e-scooters in partnerships with GoX Apollo and Tortoise. “The last 12 months have been exciting and challenging – but Curiosity Lab has remained focused on facilitating innovation and creating opportunities for our members and ecosystem partners,” said Betsy Plattenburg , executive director of Curiosity Lab at Peachtree Corners. “Our grand opening demonstrated the potential of new technologies for a future yet imagined. Autonomous delivery that was novel this time last year is critically important today.” While celebrating the last year, perhaps the most exciting part is what’s to come for Curiosity Lab. The team is actively looking for new innovators to come and test on their streets.
