[00:00] Boy, I went to what I can only describe as a public speaking military boot camp. Literally all I kept hearing was,
[00:06] Louder. Yeah. Louder. Yes. No hand clasping.
[00:13] Move.
[00:19] The only place I've been to was Nigeria, my homeland.
[00:23] So this was another session hosted by my Toastmasters Club, but it was a bit different from the normal ones. This was a more intense one day workshop and they made sure everyone came on stage more than once.
[00:38] In the normal sessions when you're feeling a bit nervous, you get scared, you lose your train of thought or forget what to say, you can usually run back to your seat. This time they said no. Stay there if you make a mistake, let's go again.
[00:54] Of course, your boy is not quite the finished article just yet. So apart from voice projection, they were mostly critiquing the body language. Things like hand placement, how to move your hands, how to walk around the stage, where to even stand on stage and also from a neurological standpoint, why your palms get sweaty, your knees get weak and your arms get heavy.
[01:19] I always share what my personal feedback was. So this time it was one, voice projection. That's a bit of a difficult one for me because in my head, I'm I'm being quite loud, but evidently not. So, of course, practice makes improvement, so we'll get there.
[01:37] Second feedback was that I sway my body a lot, especially when standing still. That's obviously nerves and it's actually something I saw in my first video that was recorded for my first Toastmasters session when I went up there. Overall amazing session, you know I had to end with a few laughs.
[01:57] It was shrimp pad Thai and chicken pad Thai. I asked them to put it together.
[02:03] Good, good, good. Thank you.
[02:06] And then I had to run home to go eat some chicken. Peace.
