Learn More Concrete Ship For 100 years, just off Sunset Beach, lies the remains of the concrete ship Atlantus. While awaiting positioning to be part of a dock, the Atlantus broke loose of her moorings during a storm on June 8, 1926 and went aground. Several futile attempts were made to free the Atlantus. Learn More The Cape This marvelous story, about a British sailor shipwrecked off on Sunset Beach in the 17th century, was rediscovered after lying in a closet for around 60 years. Famous Philadelphia publisher J. B. Lippincott wanted to publish the book in the 1940s but the author, a blue-collar carpenter called Charles Whitecar Miskelly, wouldn't let them change a word.
