3. Product Description
HydroPhase ® APS
As a Primer: APS forms a protective barrier that prevents porous
substrates from absorbing moisture from underlayments. By controlling
moisture retention, APS ensures a uniform curing process, reducing the
risk of premature drying, shrinkage, cracking, or surface weakness.
This moisture-resistant bond improves adhesion and enhances the
long-term performance of self-leveling materials over concrete, wood,
gypsum, adhesive residues, and metal substrates.
As a Sealer: When applied over cured underlayments, APS increases
abrasion resistance and surface durability, protecting the underlayment
and preparing it for the installation of finished flooring. Sealing the
surface prevents dusting and moisture absorption, creating a stable
base for adhesives and floor coverings.
With a low-odor, fast-drying formula tinted blue for easy application
visibility, HydroPhase ® APS ensures consistent, high-quality results in
both priming and sealing applications, optimizing the performance and
longevity of underlayments and levelers.
Key Features
• As a Primer: Enhancing Bond & Ensuring Proper Curing
– Prevents uneven curing – Forms a protective barrier that reduces
substrate moisture absorption, preventing premature drying, shrink -
age, and cracking.
– Creates a strong bond – Ensures superior adhesion between the
subfloor and poured underlayments for long-term performance.
– Deep penetration & porosity reduction – Penetrates the substrate
to reduce porosity and improve underlayment coverage
and consistency.
– High pH tolerance – Can be applied over freshly placed concrete
without compromising adhesion or performance.
• As a Sealer: Preparing Underlayments for Flooring Installation
– Improves surface hardness – Enhances the durability and abrasion
resistance of cured underlayments and levelers.
– Moisture control – Seals the surface to prevent moisture absorption,
reducing dusting and improving compatibility with
floor coverings.
– Fast drying – Ready for underlayment or flooring installation in 60
minutes or less, depending on conditions.without compromising
adhesion or performance.
• Ease of Use & Environmental Compliance
– Visual application indicator – Tinted to a translucent blue for easy
verification of coverage.
– Creates a strong bond – Ensures superior adhesion between the
subfloor and poured underlayments for long-term performance.
– Easy application – Can be applied with a roller or sprayer for efficient
installation.
– Low odor, low VOC (<50 g/L) – Environmentally compliant and safe
for use in occupied spaces.
Suitable Substrates
• Use on freshly placed concrete cured for 72 hours and free
of surface water.
• Existing concrete, no minimum surface profile required.
• Lightweight or structural concrete, wood, adhesive residues,
or gypsum.
• May be used directly under moisture or alkaline-sensitive
floor coverings.
• Structurally sound wooden subfloors.
Recommended Uses
• Multifamily Construction (Apartments, Condominiums, Hotels).
• Residential and Single-Family Homes.
• Commercial Office Spaces.
• Renovation of existing wood or concrete structures.
Product Composition

5. Instructions
General Surface Prep
Ensure the surface is clean, dry and structurally sound. Repair any
cracks, spalling, or unstable areas. Remove dust, dirt, oil, grease, and
contaminants. Use mechanical methods (grinding, sanding) if needed.
Verify moisture levels meet product requirements. Address excessive
moisture if necessary. Maintain recommended temperature and humidity.
Avoid extreme conditions. Perform a final check to clear debris and
confirm the surface meets all preparation guidelines before application.
Installation of Product
Always read the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for full precautionary
instructions before use.
Tools Required
• Broom or blower – for surface preparation.
• Soft bristle broom - for application over porous substrates.
• 3/8" Paint roller w/extension pole – for even application.
Application
Site Conditions
• Apply only when temperature is between 40° F and 100° F, and
Relative Humidity is below 90%.
Apply
• Agitate product by hand or slow-speed mixing to ensure a uniform
consistency before application.
• Porous Substrates
– Dilute 3:1 (Water:APS) before applicatio.
– Pour diluted primer on the surface and broom evenly over
the substrate.
– Use a soft-tip broom only.
– DO NOT apply by sprayer or roller over porous substrates.
• Non-Porous Substrates
– Use a 3/8” paint roller to apply an even coat to all areas receiving
the underlayment or leveler.
• Use As A Sealer
– Make certain underlayment is clean and contaminate-free.
– Dilute with water to a 3:1 ratio (Water:APS).
– Ready to receive flooring goods in approximately 60 minutes.
• Apply at 150 – 800 sq ft per gallon of diluted mixture, depending
on surface profile and porosity.
Product Limitations
• Ambient, substrate, and product temperatures must be greater
than 40° F and less than 100° F.
• Do Not Allow the Product To Freeze. Never use a product that
has been subject to freezing or storage below 40° F.
• Dilute APS with clean, potable water.
• Porous substrates and aggressively profiled surfaces may lower
