Afterwards, the group laced up and headed out for a run led by Brasil Run Club. Everyone cooled down and rehydrated with some Iced Peach Tea made with WEL at the end of the run. These are the best types of events where everyone is training hard, hydrating properly afterward, and getting to meet some new customers of the brand along the way. Thanks to the team over at Solidcore Williamsburg and Brasil Run Club for teaming up on this one! public_profile__posts 19 Copy LinkedIn Facebook X Christopher Kong Christopher Kong 2w Report this post Christopher Kong shared this Took a real weekend off for the first time in a while and spent some quality time with friends in Bar Harbor. One of the highlights of our trip, we hiked the Beehive Trail in Acadia National Park, which put my legs to the test along granite switchbacks and rocky steps. Obviously WEL came with me (some habits don't take a day off 😉). Nothing like mixing up a bottle with the whole coastline laid out in front of you. The views were truly incredible, worth every step of the way up. We're back to it this week, fully recharged! public_profile__posts 23 2 Comments Copy LinkedIn Facebook X Christopher Kong Christopher Kong 1mo Report this post Christopher Kong shared this We had over 110 RSVPs in just a few days. WEL teamed up with Slow Girl Run Club and Hungry Llama for our "Run Now, Glow Later" event, which was an easy 2-mile morning run through the waterfront, followed by skin-nourishing refreshers made with WEL, and good company. Who doesn't love ending a run with Peach Matcha Refreshers and Iced Peach Teas? When we started planning this, we had no idea it would resonate the way it did. Over 110 people RSVP'd in less than a week, which is proof that people aren't just craving another group workout. They're craving community, movement, and a reason to show up for each other (bonus points if there's a good drink waiting at the finish line 🙂 ), especially in a city like NYC. Huge thank you to Isabel and the Slow Girl Run Club crew, and Daniel Salazar & Nitasha at Hungry Llama for partnering with us on this one. Watching three brands come together around something this simple with people moving together is exactly why we love what we do. public_profile__posts 23 1 Comment Copy LinkedIn Facebook X Christopher Kong Christopher Kong 1mo Report this post Christopher Kong shared this Building a CPG brand is chaotic. Good thing we were in a controlled chaos environment last night. Last night's "From Cart to Shelf" event brought together CPG founders, operators, creators, and investors under one roof. We had a live DJ set going, incredible energy, and so many amazing brands showcasing what they've built. There's nothing quite like connecting with other founders who genuinely get the highs and lows of building a CPG brand. This community continues to inspire me and push WEL forward every single day. We had a blast having attendees taste our Iced Peach Tea made with WEL's skin-nourishing electrolytes. Huge thank you to Zach Bingham , Sloane Kraftsow , and Julia Kielan for bringing this whole room together, and to Air for hosting us in their beautiful space. And thank you to 1800DTC , Air , The Shelf , and Wayflyer for making the night possible. Grateful for this community. 🚀 public_profile__posts 33 2 Comments Copy LinkedIn Facebook X Christopher Kong Christopher Kong 1mo Report this post Christopher Kong shared this New York Swim Week just wrapped and WEL had the honor of being the hydration partner for their official after party. 🥂 We brought the Hugo WEL Spritz to life for the night, where guests had a taste of what "drink your skincare" really means. Functional hydration with Himalayan pink salt, coconut water, hyaluronic acid, and ceramides, served up in a way that fits right into the energy of Swim Week. We proved that functional hydration doesn't have to sacrifice the experience. Whether you're at a runway show, a rooftop pool party, or just getting through your day, your skin (and your glass!) deserve better than sugar and empty calories. Huge thanks to the entire NYSW and T-Squared Social teams for having us. This is just the beginning of WEL showing up where the culture is. #NYSwimWeek #WEL #Hydration #SkinCare public_profile__posts 20 1 Comment Copy LinkedIn Facebook X Christopher Kong Christopher Kong 1mo Report this post Christopher Kong shared this What happens when hospitality meets wellness? Magic. Last night, WEL partnered with The Maze NYC , NYC's alcohol-free members club, for an evening centered around wellness and self-care. Coming from a hospitality background, I've always believed every detail makes the guest experience. It's not just about showing up with a product – it's about creating a moment people actually want to be part of. We served up an elevated version of our Peach Glow Spritz and got to spend the night chatting with The Maze members about their wellness routines, what they look for in functional beverages, and how skin-supporting hydration fits into their day-to-day. We received some incredible feedback. 🙂 Huge thank you to the entire team at The Maze for hosting us in such a beautiful space and making WEL feel right at home. This is exactly the kind of partnership we love, one where hospitality and wellness meet, and everyone leaves a little more hydrated (and glowing). #WEL #DrinkYourSkincare #TheMaze #WellnessEvents #NYCEvents public_profile__posts 20 Copy LinkedIn Facebook X Christopher Kong Christopher Kong 1mo Report this post Christopher Kong posted this Innovative brands are skipping past collagen and going straight for the skin barrier. Your skin barrier is what actually keeps moisture in and pollution, irritants, and everything else out. When it breaks down, that's when fine lines and wrinkles really take hold. Dermatologists have been saying the same thing all through 2026: "skin longevity" is replacing "anti-aging," and skin barrier ingredients like ceramides and hyaluronic acid are becoming the foundation. Kourtney Kardashian's wellness brand, Lemme, just proved the point. Their new Skin Gummy Rings lead with ceramides and hyaluronic acid in the formulation. This was a total skin barrier play. When a brand with that kind of reach makes that call, it's clear the category's shifting. Consumers already trust hyaluronic acid and ceramides. Thanks to years of The Ordinary, CeraVe, and the whole "skinimalism" wave did that education for us on the topical side. What's new is eating or drinking it instead. The brands willing to formulate past the obvious ingredient are the ones who'll own the next few years of this category. What ingredient do you think consumers ask for next? 5 Copy LinkedIn Facebook X Christopher Kong Christopher Kong 1mo Report this post Christopher Kong shared this Building in NYC is fun. This will be a 45-min workout followed by skin-supporting electrolyte drinks from WEL , cold protein popsicles from Pola Pops , Korean soup from OMA Natural Food , and luxury towels from Knit. We'll also have a live DJ and networking after. If you're building something in this city and want to sweat and connect with people doing the same — come through. WEL teamed up with Rivian , Forte , and Urban Iron for a full wellness activation in the middle of NYC's 90-degree heat wave with yoga, a group run, and a recovery experience. We served an Iced Peach Tea refresher made with WEL as the post-workout recovery drink, and it disappeared fast. Multiple people came up and said they recognized WEL from other activations around the city — not because we told them to, but because they'd actually come across us before. We launched a little over 6 months ago, so hearing that kind of recognition already, from people who found us organically at a different event, is the clearest signal we could ask for that our partnerships led growth is working. One workout, one city block, one activation at a time. 💪 Huge thanks to the Rivian, Forte, and Urban Iron teams for having us!! 🙌 public_profile__posts 25 Copy LinkedIn Facebook X No more next content Slide to item 1 Slide to item 2 Slide to item 3 Slide to item 4 Slide to item 5 Slide to item 6 Slide to item 7 Slide to item 8 Slide to item 9 Christopher Kong replied to a comment 1w Clareen W. great hike with unreal views! Big CPG acquirers rarely want to buy DTC-only brands By the time these companies enter retail, DTC has grown so large that retail looks small by comparison Even $5-10m in year-one retail (excellent) can feel like a “rounding error” if DTC is already $75m+ and still growing Often brands are tempted to slow (or stop) DTC growth to increase the retail mix — this backfires when acquirers ask why your biggest channel stopped growing So what do acquirers ACTUALLY want to see? Not a magic threshold of retail sales They really just want proof that your brand’s online success is not a false positive: • That consumers can discover, understand, trial and repurchase your product off the shelf • That you outsell competitors side by side in-store • That you can win without perfectly optimized landing pages • That you can do the above across channels (natural, conventional, mass, club) And, at the same time, they want “meat left on the bone” — relatively low retailer penetration (% ACV) so they can drive the next wave of growth post-acquisition So the answer is not “X% of sales from retail” It’s proving that your brand wins on shelf the same way it wins online (If you lead M&A at a CPG co, you read this far and think I’m crazy, my DMs are open) 123 13 Comments Jordan Narducci DTCPG • 6K followers 🔥 We just reviewed weekly metrics for our 6 largest CPG clients and these were their subscription take rates vs last year for the week of Black Friday (ranked based on take rates): 🔥 ✅ Client 1: 77.3% (271% increase) ✅ Client 2: 64.0% (74% increase) ☑️ Client 3: 32.0% (201% increase) ☑️ Client 4: 30.0% (359% increase) ❎ Client 5: 17.2% (41% increase) ❎ Client 6: 7.7% (408% increase) Clients 1 and 2 led with subscription-first offers (discounts and gifts that increased with size of purchase). The others at least ensured subscribers didn't miss out on the deals (and they all saw big improvements vs last year). While there's still a lot of work to be done for all of these clients to ensure we nurture and keep these new subscribers, I'm proud of these improvements during a critical time when subscriptions are often an after thought! Here's what brands should do next to keep these new subscribers: 💌 Nurture them with post-purchase email flows (get them excited about their order, educate them on what to expect, help them understand how to manage their subscription, etc.) 🎁 Surprise and delight them with free gifts / incentives on their 2nd order to reframe the billing reminder email as a welcome gift vs a reminder to cancel (and focus on one click delay/skip options for those who still have too much product) 💸 Upsell them to quarterly subscriptions (offer a bigger discount in line with the BFCM savings) 🧲 Retain them with updates to the cancel flow offering bigger incentives for this cohort on the 2nd order to ensure they have time to build their routine without breaking the bank 40 13 Comments Bennett Maxwell Franchise KI • 19K followers Been building this for months: a franchise AI that pulls answers from the FDD, sales calls, interviews, decks, everything. They’re wrong...but the truth might be more unsettling. On the latest Camber Creek Catalyst podcast, Head of Platform Lionel Foster sat down with Jeremy Hlavacek (former ad leader at IBM Watson, Experian, and The Weather Channel) to unpack what’s really happening behind the scenes in digital advertising. A few takeaways that stuck with me: - The data ecosystem is far more powerful (and predictive) than most people realize - The real question isn’t what companies can do, but what they should do - Every company, from retailers to AI platforms, is becoming an ad business - And for startups: copying the same paid acquisition playbook is a fast path to mediocrity If you’ve ever felt like ads are getting “too good,” this conversation will change how you think about privacy, AI, and the future of marketing. Worth a listen (link in comments). #podcast #advertising #AI #bigbrother https://lnkd.in/eGVFFw3C 18 2 Comments Samantha Neal tag • 778 followers I’ve taken 7 calls with CPG founders in the last two weeks… and here’s the lesson: Some people will see the value in a startup that’s 2< years old, they will see the numbers, case studies, client feeds, and the results that speak for themselves. And others simply won’t. Some brands are actively looking for a true organic social partner, someone to help build authority, grow community, and shape the story behind the product. (which takes BELIEVING in the power of social media for CPG brands) Others are looking for 'someone to click post' or the worst... 'can you make is viral'? 😭 If you know, you know...... And the difference is obvious the moment you get on a call. Every “no” from someone who isn’t ready, creates space for the founders who are, the ones who understand that content, strategy, and storytelling aren’t optional for CPG brands in 2026… they’re the engine. Founders: trust your work, and trust that the right clients recognize both. 3 1 Comment Ajinkya Nene Trellus (YC W22) • 22K followers Couple of upgrades going out here at Trellus (YC W22) 1.
