That was the joint story told by Atlanta and Morocco as they signed an agreement to work together to deepen industrial collaboration Tuesday, a night before the North African nation’s FIFA World Cup match against Haiti . Rabia El Alama , managing director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Morocco, remembered traveling to Atlanta to drum up business 20 years ago, selling Morocco as a favorable locale for outsourcing tech and business services. It was also a budding manufacturing hub looking to build out its automotive and aerospace sectors.
