Linas Beliūnas 3h Edited Report this post Can’t believe a16z just told exactly how to turn attention into startup infrastructure. Here’s the complete founder playbook for winning customers, hires, and capital in the AI age 🔥 For 20 years, the startup playbook was simple: Build a great product. Find product-market fit. Then add distribution. That model is now breaking. When AI lets anyone build faster, copy faster, and bundle faster, product alone is no longer enough. The new moat is getting the right people to understand the right thing before the market catches up. Customers. Talent. Investors. Design partners. Early believers. That is why Erik Torenberg’s a16z “New Media” thesis matters. He calls it “go-direct as a service.” But the real idea is way bigger: Attention is no longer a marketing function. It is a founder operating system. The best founders won’t just post more. They’ll turn narrative into demand, trust, recruiting leverage, investor conviction, and category ownership. So I mapped the full playbook. Inside: ↳ The a16z “go-direct” model ↳ The 8 founder moves to win attention ↳ The 5 shifts reshaping startup distribution ↳ The minimum-viable attention system ↳ How attention becomes customers, hires, and capital In the AI age, building is getting cheaper. Being understood is getting harder. Comment “Attention”, and I’ll send you the link 🦄 P.S. also check out How Anthropic Just Told AI Founders Exactly What to Build in 2026 (Full founder playbook + where Anthropic's own products will & won't compete)🦄: https://lnkd.in/d_9Wnxns 97 173 Comments Like Comment Share Copy LinkedIn Facebook X Linas Beliūnas 52m Report this comment BTW, in case you missed it, also check out how I built an AI operating system to run a startup with Claude 🤖: https://linas.substack.com/p/onepersonunicorn No more previous content No more next content Like Reply 1 Reaction Selim Erünkut 3h Report this comment I think the product's role has changed, not diminished. AI can copy a feature set, but it can't easily copy the deep insight that led to it. A product that solves a real pain point becomes its own best distribution channel. The attention it earns is from a user saying "this just works," which is harder to replicate than any single feature. The two are increasingly reinforcing each other. Like Reply 2 Reactions 3 Reactions Harish Pillay 3h Report this comment 'tension!
