# Framework: Participation Morphology

Frameworks Framework: Participation Morphology Eight shapes keep appearing across 4,500 cases of participation. Christian Jacobsen May 17, 2026 1 Share Last week’s essay on the shapes of participation pulled more threads than I expected, so I spent the weekend going deeper. Eight shapes keep appearing across the 4,500+ cases in the Participation Atlas. Seven spatial, one temporal. The visualization frames the foundational forms. What it doesn’t yet show is the more interesting fact: most participation systems blend multiple shapes at once. A great brand or movement is usually two or three of these running in parallel. 1 Share
