WELCOME TO THE Amelia Island muSEUM OF hISTORY DONATE NOW VOLUNTEER NOW MEMBERSHIP VISIT US Step back in time and discover 4000 years of life on the water’s edge here on Amelia Island. From the Timucua Native American tribe to Spanish and French explorers, from the lawless spirit of pirates to the dignified air of Victorian-era residents, Amelia Island has been home to diverse cultures that have left an exciting heritage. Open: Monday – Saturday: 10 am – 4 pm / Sunday: 1 pm – 4 pm / Free Friday Hours: 4 pm to 6 pm Docent-led tours Monday – Saturday at 11 am and 2 pm / Sunday at 2 pm. Housed in the former Nassau County Jail, we are the first spoken history museum in the state of Florida. We continue our story-telling tradition with a variety of tours that cater to many interests and age levels. Walking Tours and Docent-led Museum Tours are scheduled regularly. Alternate tour times may be arranged for groups of four or more by contacting our Director of Education.
