Our Mission: - Fund projects that provide access to safe water - Engage, educate, and empower local communities - Invest in innovation that drives sustainable solutions The Global Water Crisis: - Nearly 1 billion people around the world do not have access to safe drinking water and 2.5 billion live without basic sanitation - Every 20 seconds a child dies as a result of poor sanitation. This figure represents about 20% of the deaths of children under five - Each year, 443 million school days are lost due to water related illnesses Our Impact and Core Values: Since Surge began in 2008, we have provided clean water to over 66,000 people in 8 countries, including: Bangladesh, Cambodia, the Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Haiti, India, Pakistan, and Tanzania. Surge has also engaged thousands of youth and adults globally as a part of our interactive education campaigns. Through these efforts participants learn about the global water crisis, the role of water access, sanitation and hygiene practices in improving public health, and how proper local water management can enable global change.
