# We released Scout: a local agent for your MacBook

Jackson Oaks 16h Report this post We released Scout a few weeks ago. It's a local agent that runs air-gapped on your MacBook. It was installed via the command line before, but just today we released it as an actual Mac App. You can install it like any other app and have a frontier local agent running on your MacBook. Scout is a hyper optimized agent that runs air-gapped on your Mac. It has our Courier OS infrastructure built in for serving local models with industry-leading agentic capabilities. All your chats are stored locally on your machine, keeping everything completely private. Installing it via the command line was a bottleneck for people, as it requires opening the terminal, copying/pasting a curl command, and navigating the TUI to start everything. Now, you just install a Mac app, drag it to applications, and open it up! Just like that you're running a production grade AI API platform on your Mac. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. This is unlike anything out there for local AI. Install is now seamless and easy, everything works out of the box on M-series Macs, and I am blown away at the performance we are getting from smaller local models running on our infrastructure.
