When I've come upon this house in the middle of larger buildings, it always made me curious so I was glad to see inside. John Sevier started building the foundation in 1797. Then James Park completed the main house in 1812 (see the photo of the basement with stone on bottom and brick on top for the two different construction times). In the 1820s, an addition was added, making the house an L-shape. The house was renovated in 2006 for the Gulf & Ohio Railways office. This work including restoring the front porch. The second photo is from the National Register of Historic Places application with the porch that was replaced. The third photo is from 1918 with the porch design that was brought back.
