# Glynn County Millage Rates

Millage Rates Millage Rates The tax rate, or millage, is set annually by the County Board of Commissioners, and other governing authorities of the taxing jurisdiction. These rates are usually determined in late July. Millage rates are determined by taking the budget amount that local governments and schools will need and dividing that by the number of properties within the government’s jurisdiction, then multiplying by 1000. This produces a number, that when calculated with Assessed Values, ensures each property owner pays their fair share based on the value of the property. Your Taxing Authorities will vary depending on where you live within the county. If you want to estimate your taxes, refer to a previous bill, or your account on our website to see which taxing authorities apply to your property. If you live within city limits, some taxing authorities will be collected separately by the City of Brunswick. Look for a separate City Tax bill in addition to your County Tax bill. How to Figure Tax: Tax is calculated using the assessed value of a property, which is 40% of the Fair Market Value. You can find your assessed value on Qpublic.com, on our website from the pay/view tax bill link , or from your Annual Notice of Assessment. Remember, we need the 40% value . Your notice of assessment will show mills differently. On your Annual notice of assessment, Multiply the millage x 1000 to get the actual millage rate. Example: .015400 becomes 15.4 mills.) Since one mill = $1 per each $1,000 of assessed value , we need to determine how many times our Assessed Value is divisible by $1,000. EXAMPLE: This property has an assessed Value of $77,160. Divide that by 1,000 to get $77.16. $77.16 will represent 1 mil. Multiply 1 mil ($77.16) by the number of mills or "millage rate" for each Taxing Authority. In 2024, School Tax had a millage rate of 14.9, so multiply one mil ($77.16) by 14.9 (77.16 x 14.9 = $1,149.68) For this property, the School Tax portion was billed $1,149.68. Repeat this calculation for each of the taxing authorities. Then add those results for an estimate of your property tax. KEEP IN MIND! If you have homestead exemptions, your actual tax bill will include additional calculations and may be significantly lower. Contact the Property Appraisal Department to understand how homestead exemptions affect your final bill. View Millage Rates Below Use the search box to search by year.
