It’s a time travel love story unlike anything I’ve ever read, and I’m hesitant to spoil much more about the book other than to tell you it is a FREAKIN’ MASTERPIECE.⁣ ⁣ Science fiction is often seen as a lens through which authors can challenge readers, fostering an opportunity for us to think deeper about complex themes and ask questions about important societal issues. And Benjamin’s book masterfully asks those questions, challenging readers to reflect on our own ideas of grief, second chances, family and community, and our relationship with nature and technology.⁣ ⁣ But beyond the exploration of these big ideas, UNDER STORY is an epically entertaining, emotional roller coaster ride that excels best when it leans into the smaller moments…the inhales and exhales of everyday life -sheep shearing on the family farm; a father swimming with his son; two people connecting during a slow dance. The ability to thread the needle between quieter character moments and some of the wildest world-building I’ve ever read...it’s a breathtaking accomplishment, and despite the fact that it’s only April, I’m confident I’ve read my favorite book of the year.⁣ ⁣ UNDER STORY officially hits bookshelves next Tuesday.
