In our several conversations, Olivia and I agreed that CPG businesses and founders, need a radically different approach in reaching our target customers, one that doesn't involve incentives, but an alignment of brand story with our customers' values. A simple, yet powerful idea if executed well. This was precisely when LvlUp Labs caught our attention. And fast-forward to this day, we're super excited that Shinaraa's seed round is now backed by LvlUp Ventures. Not only this, Shinaraa will soon begin its accelerator journey through the Marketing Edge Accelerator offered by LvlUp Labs! Being part of the LvlUp portfoilo, will unlock significant opportunities for Shinaraa as we continue to strengthen our core offerings and innovate at the frontiers of material science and human-centered design. Thanks Arianna Kleynburg for the massive support until now. We're thrilled at the prospect of what lies ahead! 33 15 Comments Ewan Larkin Ad Age • 5K followers Horizon Media and Havas are partnering in a joint venture that will allow them to collaborate on massive media reviews and expand their reach with global marketers. Other panelists were Lloyd Danzig and sandford loudon FRSA with Adam Rosenberg moderating 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀: 1️⃣ This emerging funding model is a "no-brainer" for companies that fit the criteria 2️⃣ The cost of equity for a founder is something akin to how fast you're growing revenue. For some companies, this can easily be north of 50% (making cohort financing look very cheap) 3️⃣ When one of your competitors gets access to a $100m warchest, you have no choice but to follow suit or risk losing share. It's an arms race 4️⃣ Cohort financing is NOT a fit for ALL businesses. It's critical that companies have strong, predictable cohorts 29 Jake Bright 6K followers My favorite NYC Tech Week event was Cliff Worley’s AI Tools for Marketing workshop. Big up to Cherae Robinson and Flybridge for hosting. Cliff’s preso nudged me to share some GenAI musings -- shaped over the last three years as a gatekeeper (and advisor) for VC and startup content. 𝟯𝟲𝗞 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗜 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝘀 First up, some of Cliff's nuggets. If you’re unfamiliar with Worely, he quickly establishes his mastery of the AI space -- both functionally and big picture. With that, you’d expect Cliff to wax poetically as a GenAI hype man. I actually took away a more pragmatic assessment. Some of Worely’s salient points: • By Cliff’s tally, there are 36K active AI apps out there. • He characterizes the current AI landscape as a Wild West battle for traction/relevance. • Cliff also cautioned that AI tools still have “hallucinations” where they go haywire/get stuff wrong. • He described AI tools as something that will greatly enhance your productivity and creativity, not replace it. • But like everything in AI, that could change 5 minutes ago. 𝗬𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝗔𝗜 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸 Three more key Cliff takeaways: • Is your future i͟r͟r͟e͟l͟e͟v͟a͟n͟c͟e͟ sealed if you don’t embrace AI tools for productivity? Very likely. • But it’s impossible (and potentially counterproductive) to try to embrace them all. • Smart choices have to be made. And what I considered his most valuable advice: • Create a sensible AI stack (5-10 apps) that works for you now...while • Simultaneously scheduling “AI PlayTime” for new apps and constantly upping your AI IQ 𝗝𝗕’𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗽𝘂𝘁 So bringing Cliff’s preso back to my own experience, I offer four points: • Yes, I agree, you need to embrace GenAI tools and your own AI stack to avoid being dead in the water, but... • GenAI tools still have issues. I’ve seen plenty of Grok and ChatGPT generated content with major style, flow, and factual issues – that if published 𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘴 𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 could have created headaches. • As such, time and resource constrained startups should continue to assess their AI ROI -- overall and case by case per output. Finally, I’m still cautious about publishing GenAI content under a company name 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘢 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 (𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯) 𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸. I’ve seen too many errors. VCs and startups have a lot at stake with what they say publicly. That’s my take for now. But again, that could all change...5 minutes ago. Thanks again Cliff and Flybridge! 11 1 Comment Stephanie Campbell The Artemis Fund • 11K followers Mentorship compounds. Especially for early stage women founders. On March 19 in New York, 2M Mentors Live is hosting its 4th annual event in partnership with DVF, focused on expanding access to meaningful mentorship and capital for strong early stage founders. With a huge to-do list that comes along with that, it’s easy to de-prioritize communications over other tasks that feel more urgent. Where I’ve seen integrations start to struggle is when communication doesn’t keep pace with what’s changing. People spend a lot of energy trying to read between the lines about what the deal means for them, and rumors fill the silence. The integration teams that manage this best don’t wait to have every answer before they communicate. They share what they know, when they know it, and follow up as things become clearer. The message evolves, and that's OK and expected. https://lnkd.in/gPQPbWfc 6 Andres Ramirez Forbes Tate Partners • 4K followers We talk a lot about “eating real food,” but we’ve quietly built a system that makes ultra‑processed calories the easiest choice for the people who can least afford the health consequences. My latest column, The Politics of Real Food, looks at how we went from Michelle Obama’s school‑lunch fight to today’s “food is medicine” movement, why tariffs, subsidies, and grocery prices still tilt the table toward ultra‑processed foods, and what SNAP, WIC, and produce prescription programs reveal about who actually gets access to “real” food. It also explores how culture wars and food marketing muddy the line between healthy and harmful. If we really believe food is medicine, then access to real food can’t be a lifestyle perk. It has to be treated as basic health infrastructure. In the piece, Jack weighs in on a notable trend emerging in the AI startup ecosystem: companies effectively selling the same equity at different prices within the same round, a dynamic reshaping how venture financings are structured and how valuations are interpreted in today’s competitive AI market. NYC's city-owned markets keep food cheap, at a cost But New York already has a version of city-owned groceries: its six public retail markets. Three of them — Essex Market on the Lower East Side, La Marqueta in East Harlem, and Moore Street Market in Brooklyn — are directly managed by the city’s Economic Development Corporation, or EDC. EDC rents city-owned properties to private vendors at below-market rates, while covering operational costs such as utilities, security, janitorial services and maintenance. According to an appraisal that EDC commissioned in 2025, retail space at Essex Market could command $115 per square foot in rent on the open market. But records show that some vendors paid as little as $38 per square foot in base rent that fiscal year, with an average rent of around $91 per square foot. Many vendors pass along their considerable savings on rent to customers in the form of deeply discounted prices. https://lnkd.in/eZFxt6mj Cheryl Campos Harvard University • 16K followers Honored to have done one of the very few interviews out there with Murat Aktihanoglu, who has been a pillar of the NYC tech ecosystem for 20+ years with Matthew Hooper and Laney Kraus-Taddeo for Right to Invest conversations. But for local independent agencies, it’s worth pausing and thinking: should we follow the trend blindly, or chart our own growth path? Large-scale mergers often promise efficiency and scale, but they can come at a cost ; diluting brand identity, culture, and client relationships. In Africa, where local knowledge, agility, and cultural intelligence are critical, centralization may slow decision-making and reduce responsiveness. Independent agencies that stay strong, differentiated, and true to their unique strengths may gain more by leveraging local expertise, reputation, and flexibility rather than merging just for size. Is bigger better? or simply staying independent with a clear niche can often create more sustainable, long-term value? #PR #AgencyGrowth #StrategicThinking #Leadership 9 Micah Gelman Innovative newsroom executive… • 3K followers Thank you to Clara Soteras Acosta for having me at The Audience Club. in New York last week. It was great to join a panel on AI and Creators with Kiera Carter, Teresa Mondría Terol, Jeremy Caplan, Carla Nudel, Olga de Andrés Fernández and talk about how creators who have authentic connections with their audiences are a hedge against AI. Thanks also to Claudio E. Cabrera for his insights from The Athletic about how they're using video to create multiple entry points to their journalism, which is really critical for smart publishers to be doing. What can I say some publishers get it, some don't. Loved to hear Edward Hyatt talk about how The Wall Street Journal is breaking down silos between their audience and video teams to optimize YouTube search to benefit the entire organization. It's nice to hear an idea you've been telling executives for a decades isn't an insane notion. Great hearing from Navah Maynard, Nicole Hernandez, MJ Cachón Yáñez and Michael Henry too! Thanks to Wix Studio for hosting! 15 4 Comments Joseph Gallo PayPal • 4K followers PRWeek and Boston University just released their first AI in PR Survey and it's pretty similar to what Gab Ferree uncovered in her joint Off the Record+Axios HQ survey: PR people want to move beyond AI experimentation and into efficient execution. PR Week dove deeper though and found: 🏢 Organizations aren't set up for communicators' success. They're lacking infrastructure, policies, etc. 👩‍💻 Agencies are hiring AI specialists and have quickly closed the gap between client knowledge of AI and their own. 🤖 Proprietary tools are a key differentiator. Agencies and in-house teams that build agents and take the pole position in the industry will be light years ahead of those who don't. This all makes sense when talking to people. The most advanced communicators are becoming cyborgs; building agents, leveraging AI in new ways, allowing it to become an extension of themselves. We all need to embrace how AI is changing the industry.
