The smaller scale makes the project easily accessible, while the design allows for the piece to still provide function. Project Instructions Shopping List Project Instructions When working with cement-based products, always wear eye protection and waterproof gloves. Step 1 Use scissors or a box cutter to open the carton and trim the edges. Step 2 Place the plastic bottle inside of the milk carton and drill through both. Step 4 Screw the bolt through the carton and plastic bottle, and fasten the nut on the other side. Step 5 Seal the holes and bolt with caulk. Step 6 Mix the concrete and pour it into the mold. Use a spoon or stick to push the concrete down into all of the corners. Step 7 Vibrate the mold to release any air bubbles trapped in the concrete. Step 8 Allow the concrete to cure for 48 hours. Step 9 After the concrete has cured, unwrap the mold and unscrew the bolt. Step 10 Drill holes of various sizes in the concrete. QUIKTIP: Try to leave at least 3/4” between the holes to keep the lamp from breaking. Step 11 Cut the socket end of the wire, and thread the cut end through the bolt hole. Strip the wires and twist them together. Then, cover the exposed metal with electrical tape or wire nuts.
