# Dreamsleeps: Amanpulo, Pamalican Island, Philippines

In the local Cuyonon dialect, pamalican means ‘to keep on coming back’. The sentiment is a fitting one for the only resort on this 85-hectare private island in the northern reaches of Palawan Province. Part of the Quiniluban group of the Cuyo Islands, this low-lying coral isle sits 360km south-west of Manila, encircled by 7 sq km of reef that gives way to 5.5km of powder-white sand. Such seclusion comes at the price of access, and the only way in is a 90-minute private flight from Manila (NAIA) or Clark (CRK) airports on Amanpulo’s own 14-seat twin-engine turboprop, which touches down on the island’s private airstrip.
