Jessalyn Friske on Instagram: "Part 2 of 2: Eugenia Williams lived in the regency revival house until 1983 when her health required her to live in a nursing home/hospital. She died in 1998 and willed the house to UT in hopes that it could be used as their president’s residence. However, that never happened because of cost of restoration needed to bring the house back from such a long vacancy. It took years of legal wrangling to allow the house to be put up for auction in 2020, where the Aslan Foundation purchased it. Then it took six more years to be restored into a property that can now be enjoyed by the public. In addition to tours of the inside of the house, the public can enjoy the grounds of the property and have events inside the house. This is a very happy ending for the house, as there was concern that property could have been scooped up by a developer for a subdivision. The furnishings now inside the house are not original to Eugenia but have been selected as something she could have had in the house during her lifetime. This keeps the house from feeling too much like a museum, as you can actually sit on the furniture.
