# Cowell House

Jessalyn Friske on Instagram: "My next stop on the Fourth and Gill Home Tour was the Cowell House, built in 1905. It was built for Ben P. and Ella K. Cowell. The house was originally a Queen Anne Cottage, but around 1920 a second story was added in the Craftsman style, giving it a hybrid look. Ben died in 1924, and Ella continued to live in the house until she died in 1956. Two of her daughters lived in the house until 1961, and after that the house was converted into apartments. The house was restored in the 1980s and was featured on one of the first Fourth and Gill Home Tours in 1990, when it was owned by the current owners of the Dr. C.H. Alexander House (another stop on this year's tour - see future post). The current owners of the Cowell House purchased it in 2007 and renovated the kitchen and baths.
