# Short 11 - V1

[00:00] So I made a decision 32 years ago to go to this training called someone by the name of Dave Ramsey. He runs a course called Financial Peace University. And what he actually did was teach me how to manage money.

[00:15] And the most important thing about managing money is setting up categories for money. And so we created envelopes and those envelopes would have my mortgage in it, my rent payment, my utilities, all that sort of stuff. And every month we would take money and stuff the envelopes with the money so that when the bills came due the next month, we had the cash. And when that cash was gone, we wouldn't do it.

[00:41] So for example, one of those cash envelopes was for food. When we ran out of that cash and we did quite often, we'd start eating oatmeal. Now today, we don't have to do that. We have plenty of money, but we still keep the cash in envelopes and we still budget. So we made a decision that we're not going to change our life or our lifestyle just because we had money.
