His journey from growing up in a San Antonio barrio to becoming a college professor, dean, vice president, and now president reflects his commitment to creating similar opportunities for students in his community. He also emphasizes that while socioeconomic mobility is critical, education equally fosters understanding, appreciation, and tolerance, strengthening communities through exposure to diverse perspectives and experiences. As EMCC marked its 30th anniversary in 2022, he reflected with both humility and pride on the college’s impact across West Valley communities. Looking ahead, he remains committed to ensuring EMCC continues to be a college of and for the community—serving as a beacon of hope and opportunity for all who pursue education.
